Headphone Test
Check if your left and right earcups are wired correctly, balanced properly, and not experiencing phase cancellation issues.
Left Channel Test
You should hear sound ONLY from your LEFT earcup.
Did you hear sound on the left?
What is the Headphone Test?
Our comprehensive headphone test is a simple, guided audio diagnostic tool designed to verify that your headphones, earbuds, or stereo speakers are functioning correctly. It walks you through four crucial checks: Left Channel isolation, Right Channel isolation, Center Balance, and Wiring Phase. By generating precise audio tones directly in your browser, you can quickly diagnose hardware faults or operating system configuration errors.
Why Do I Need to Test My Headphones?
Audio issues are common, especially with wired headphones where cables get bent or pulled. If your left and right channels are reversed, playing competitive games like CS:GO or Valorant becomes impossible, as footsteps will sound like they are coming from the wrong direction. If your audio balance is shifted, music will sound lopsided. Furthermore, if your headphone wiring is 'out of phase' (the positive and negative wires are swapped inside the cable), bass frequencies will cancel each other out, making everything sound thin, weak, and strangely hollow.
How the Phase Test Works
The 'Phase Test' is the most important diagnostic for audio quality. When audio is 'in phase', the left and right speakers push air at the exact same time. The sound feels solid and centered in your head. When audio is 'out of phase', one speaker pushes air while the other pulls. These sound waves collide and cancel each other out (especially low frequencies). An out-of-phase audio signal will sound bizarrely wide, quiet, and impossible to locate. If you answer 'Yes' to our Phase Test question, your headphones are wired incorrectly or you have a faulty audio adapter.
